Essendon Keilor College master plan

During the 2010 state election campaign, Labor pledged $10 million to fund an upgrade to Essendon Keilor College. The Baillieu government has consistently refused to match this commitment.

In his inaugural address to the Victorian Parliament and in a recent adjournment debate, Ben declared funding for the Essendon Keilor College master plan an immediate priority:

“Niddrie is blessed with a great network of schools; however some are in urgent need of attention. It is difficult to inspire students on the relevance and importance of education when the school around them is falling down. My immediate task is the implementation of the Essendon Keilor College master plan.”

Ben Carroll MP, Inaugural Speech, Victorian Parliament, 18 April 2012

“I recently visited the school again and got a chance to see firsthand not only the school’s need for funding, but its commitment to learning. Essendon Keilor College is a fantastic school which plays a leading role in a number of education initiatives and is recognised as a leading school in innovative practises.

I urge the minister to match the commitment to learning displayed by the Essendon Keilor College through providing adequate funding to create a school environment that sends students the message that their school matters, their educations matters, and that their futures matter.”
